Dr. Vlachodimitropoulou’s medical journey began at King’s College London, graduation in 2011. She undertook her foundation training in London and proceeded to train in Obstetrics & Gynaecology across prominent London hospitals, including University College, Whittington, Royal Free, Newham, and Whipps Cross.

She obtained her PhD from University College London (UCL), a pursuit distinguished by the prestigious Onassis Foundation Scholarship and substantial funding from a pharmaceutical company, underlining the significance of her research. Her doctoral studies, centered on haemoglobinopathies and transfusional iron overload, laid the cornerstone for her eminent status as a expert in maternal and fetal haematology.

Innovative Research & International Expertise

Dr. Vlachodimitropoulou’s research extends to critical areas like venous thromboembolism and red cell disorders in pregnancy as well as fetal haematology. Her work, funded by prestigious bodies like the Helliwell Foundation and the Clinical Research Trial Institute (CRTI) Award 2023 from the American Society of Haematology (ASH), has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Subsequent to her training in London, Dr Vlachodimitropoulou pursued advanced subspecialty training and international experience at the world-renowned Mount Sinai and Toronto General Hospitals in Toronto, Canada, institutions acclaimed for their cutting-edge medical research and exceptional patient care. Here, she pursued three fellowships: a two-year fellowship in Maternal & Fetal Haematology, a two-year fellowship in Maternal & Fetal Medicine and a 6-month fellowship in Fetal Therapy. Focusing on Maternal & Fetal Haematology, Maternal & Fetal Medicine, and Fetal Therapy, has enriched her approach to complex medical conditions in pregnancy.

Current Roles and Specializations

Currently, Dr. Vlachodimitropoulou serves as a Maternal and Fetal Medicine consultant at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and as a Clinician Scientist at King’s College London. She mentors a new generation of healthcare professionals, supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students.

Following the initial antenatal appointment if you wish to be booked with Dr. Vlachodimitropoulou, a deposit of 50% of their fees is required to be paid by the 20th week of your pregnancy. The final balance of the fees is due by the 36th week of your pregnancy.

For patients covered under a medical insurance, please note that most UK insurance companies do not cover maternity care. In these cases, the fees should be settled in full prior to delivery and we would then help you to recover any funds from your insurers.
