Dr Melikian is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at King’s College Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at King’s College London School of Medicine. Dr Melikian specialises in the treatment of all aspects of general and interventional cardiology including coronary angiography, angioplasty / stenting and closure of PFO / ASD. He also manages patients with chest discomfort, breathlessness, cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, valvular heart disease, heart failure and palpitations. He treats both elective and emergency patients.
#Dr Melikian qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Medical School and underwent graduate training at Hammersmith, Royal Brompton and King’s College Hospitals in London. He undertook a two year interventional cardiology fellowship at Aalst Cardiovascular Centre in Belgium and has appointed as Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at King’s College School of Medicine in 2008 prior to taking up his current post as Consultant Cardiologist at King’s College Hospital in 2010. Dr Melikian has received numerous awards scholarships and prizes and in 2012 he was part of a team of five cardiologists providing a comprehensive cardiology opinion service for the Olympic Family during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Dr Melikian has an ongoing research programme that has an emphasis on coronary physiology and all aspects of interventional cardiology in particular management of patients with heart attacks. He is also involved in multiple international clinical trials and has been supported with grants from the British Cardiac Society, British Heart Foundation and National Academy of Sciences.
