Our Patients

Inpatients and day cases

You will usually stay on Guthrie Ward, but if you need specialist services you may be accommodated elsewhere in the hospital. For example, all children are looked after in specialist children’s wards, patients needing telemetry are accommodated in a specialist neurology ward and mothers giving birth are admitted to the specialist obstetrics ward. If you need the specialised services of the intensive care or high dependency units, you will be transferred to these areas to ensure the best care.

We will confirm your admission date, time and location either by telephone or by post. We will also let you know if you need to make any specific preparations before admission, such as fasting.

Guthrie Ward

Each room on Guthrie Ward is designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. All have an en-suite toilet and many have their own shower. They have a nurse call system, a remote control television with a range of satellite channels, a small fridge, a safe and a direct dial telephone. Internet facilities are also available, if required.

We will provide you with all the conveniences you would expect, including fresh linen, bath and hand towels and a small selection of toiletries.
