Professor Jackson is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a specialist interest in age-related macular degeneration, diabetes and cataract surgery. He has subspecialty expertise in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina.,

Professor Jackson is the editor of The Moorfields Manual of Ophthalmology and is the Chief Investigator on a number of large ophthalmology trials including several on macular degeneration. He leads the undergraduate ophthalmology teaching at King’s College London where he is a Professor of Retinal Research, with a large, active research portfolio and research income in excess of £4m. He is a specialist advisor to NICE and sits on NICE’s Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee. Professor Jackson completed his medical degree in New Zealand and began his ophthalmology training in the UK. He was Senior House Officer at St Thomas’ Hospital in London and went on to complete a retinal PhD at The Rayne Institute, London. Following that, he undertook a further four years of Registrar training based at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he stayed on as a Vitreoretinal Fellow until his Consultant appointment at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
